Stayed up all night in Edinburgh, Scotland to watch these two ceremonies. So, so honored for The Buffalo Hunter Hunter to have somehow won both a Bram Stoker Award and a Nebula Award. Did some light searching on a train, and it looks like maybe only one other novel’s ever won both? Cool. As for winning both the Stoker and the Locus, which BHH also lucked into a bit ago . . . I know Paul Tremblay and Gabino Iglesias have both done that. Probably a few others? And some eight or nine novels have won both the Locus and the Nebula.
Near as I can tell, though—please, correct me if I’m wrong—no other novel’s ever pulled off what I guess I want to call the triple crown of genre. Or, I should say, no other HORROR novel: any novel to win all three would have to be horror, as horror can compete in the Nebula and Locus, but science fiction and fantasy can’t compete in the Bram Stoker Award(s). I think? Anyway, this may be the may be the first time it’s happened, one book pulling all three? Very cool. Thanks, all. So, so much.
And, here’s the two ceremonies:
No pics of the trophies yet, as I’m touring through he UK, and they’re still wending their way towards Colorado. Very excited to see them, though.
