  1. Wow. The advertising world has its own awards, one of which I’m sure will go to this ad. Btw, Wired’s latest print ish has an article on wind power’s growth in the US that’s pretty eye-opening. The website should have the article as well, if you’re interested.

      finally had to let my Wired subscription go, alas. if I read magazines on a tablet (if I had a tablet), I’d definitely still be there. but, a year or two ago, when they changed design, started running that tiny-tiny font up against ever margin, and overlaying stuff . . . just too much—or, really, too little—for my eyes, even with the specs on. I do miss the articles and columns, though. I understand of course that a magazine has to keep changing, look modern, all that. but, man, the design choices lately, they seem to discourage engagement rather than invite it.

      1. Are you referring to the print version? If so, I certainly see your point. Most of the print version content is available at their website, though, so you could still keep up with what they’re covering. I get their daily digital newsletter and the print magazine just cos I’m oldskool . When I read stuff online, I often bump the text size up to 150% (even with glasses on) for comfortable reading. I really should fire up the desktop rig again cos it has a larger screen than the laptop. Too lazy, I guess. :-)

    yeah, the print. and, didn’t know it was all free online. thanks. and yeah, I bump the font on my screen way up, and, really, if a site doesn’t allow reader view (in Safari), then I pretty much just don’t go there.
