I don’t write paid public reviews any more so I’ll give you the fan reaction: I will read this book at least two more times because I know I missed at least a third of what was going on the first time I read it. That’s a compliment: I adore novels that are language-dense and require a fully present mind. Particular favorites are novels that tell their stories with the qualities of musical composition (unrestricted to any one culture) without betraying that structure until the last page is finished. The Only Good Indians lands dead center in that grouping. Thank you for writing this enchanting tale.
