National Book Festival

Great time. Got to talk to Scott Turow a bit the night before—and right after having finished Presumed Guilty! Got to hang at the Jefferson Building (I think?) with Paul Tremblay and Agustina Bazterrica:

Whatever building or place it was, it was right across from this:

I thought that was the White House, but my told me (when I sent her this pic) it’s Congress. I guess where they hang out and do stuff? I’m not sure I went to school the year I was supposed to have learned that.

Next day: the whirlwind. Started with a signing with a forever line—fast as we went, we still had to turn people away after 100 minutes—then it was the main event, with Agustin Bazterrica (she’s amazing), then the first-ever “book club” at the National Book Festival (mostly about BHH), then dinner at place where the only thing on the menu I could eat were the fries. Which I asked for without salt, please. So, of course they came with salt. They always come with salt. But, the company, as you can see, was the best, so: zero real complaints. Not like I starved or anything.

Authors Stephen Graham Jones (The Buffalo Hunter Hunter) and Agustina Bazterrica (The Unworthy) were hilarious at their panel on "Horror in Hostile Worlds." I hadn't planned to read The Unworthy but definitely will now!#NationalBookFestival #BookSky
